1. The Promoter
The promoter is GRIDSERVE Car Leasing Ltd of Thorney Weir House, Thorney Mill Lane, Iver, England SL0 9AQ (“GRIDSERVE”).
2. The Competition
2.1. The title of the Competition is “Making EV easy with the electric car giveaway ” (“Competition”).
2.2. The prize will be free lease of an Audi Q4 e-tron or similar electric vehicle chosen at GRIDSERVE’s discretion (‘’Prize Vehicle’’) for a period of twelve months commencing with the collection of the Prize Vehicle as set out in clause 5.5 (“Prize Period”) with up to 12,000 miles worth of free charging across the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway network (‘’Free Charging’’), to be used in accordance with clause 5 of these terms and conditions ("Prize").
2.3. Use of the Prize Vehicle as part of the Prize will be subject to the standard terms and conditions, as well as licence and identity checks available at: https://www.gridserve.com/electric-leasing/leasing-policy
3. How to Enter
3.1. To enter the Competition, participants must go to https://events.gridserve.com/win-an-electric-car and/or gridserve.com/win, or click the direct link in adverts posted and/or sent via email by GRIDSERVE or GRIDSERVE’s partners promoting the Competition (‘’Competition Entry Form’’). Participants should provide their full name, email address and phone number on the Competition Entry Form and then click ‘Submit’ on the Competition Entry Form to submit their entry.
3.2. Competition Entry Forms must be submitted between 27 April 2024 and 27 May 2024 (“Closing Date”).
3.3. All Competition Entry Forms must be submitted by no later than 23:59 GMT on the Closing Date.
3.4. By submitting the Competition Entry Form, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
4. Eligibility
4.1. The Competition is open to all UK residents aged 25 years or over who:4.1.1. hold a full (not provisional) UK driver’s licence that has been valid for at least 2 years; and
4.1.2. have no more than 6 points accrued on their licence in the last 2 years.
4.2. The following persons cannot enter the Competition:
4.2.1. employees of GRIDSERVE or its holding or subsidiary companies;
4.2.2. employees of agents or suppliers of GRIDSERVE or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the giveaway or its administration; or
4.2.3. members of the immediate families or households 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.
4.3. In entering the Competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the Prize and you are fit and well to drive and do not take any medication that prevents you from driving. GRIDSERVE may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the Competition.
4.4. Drivers over the age of 75 may be required to supply information confirming their fitness to drive. You hereby declare that you are in good health, your eyesight is of the standard required for the UK road driving test and that you are not suffering any illness or disability which may make it unsafe for you to drive.
4.5. There is a limit of one Competition Entry Form per person.
5. The Prize
5.1. As stated in clause 2.2, the Prize for the Competition will comprise of:
i) free lease of the Prize Vehicle for the Prize Period, to be used exclusively by the winner in accordance with clause 5 of these terms and conditions, and
ii) the Free Charging during the Prize Period as defined in clause 2.2 of these terms and conditions.
5.2. There is one Prize Vehicle available which will be an Audi Q4 e-tron or similar electric vehicle chosen at GRIDSERVE’s discretion.
5.3. The Free Charging equals up to 12,000 miles to be used on GRIDSERVE's Electric Highway network chargers. The winner must bear any costs of charge which are not covered by the Free Charging, or are excluded under clauses5.5 and 5.6 of these terms and conditions. GRIDSERVE reserves a right to claim a refund from the winner for any costs incurred on the RFID card in excess of the Free Charging.
5.4. The Free Charging to be used on GRIDSERVE's Electric Highway network chargers will be valid for twelve months from the day the Prize Vehicle is collected by the winner at the Collection Point in accordance with clause
5.5. The Free Charging is subject to availability. GRIDSERVE reserves the right to substitute the Free Charging with an offer of equal or greater value.5.5. The winner will collect the Prize Vehicle at the collection point agreed with GRIDSERVE in writing (‘’Collection Point’’) at the time agreed with GRIDSERVE in writing, and return the Prize Vehicle to the Collection Point at the time agreed with GRIDSERVE in writing.
5.6. The winner will be given an RFID card which they can use to charge the Prize Vehicle at GRIDSERVE Electric Highway charge points across the UK during the Prize Period as defined in clause 2.2 above. The RFID card will cover the Free Charging. The RFID card must be returned along with the Prize Vehicle. The RFID card cannot be used to charge any vehicle other than the Prize Vehicle and GRIDSERVE reserves a right to cancel the RFID card and the Free Charging if the winner used the RFID card to charge any other vehicle which is not the Prize Vehicle. The Free Charging is not negotiable or transferable and resale is strictly prohibited.
5.7. No other persons shall be permitted to drive the Prize Vehicle.
5.8. The Prize Vehicle must only be used within the UK.
5.9. The Prize Vehicle may contain a GPS tracking unit for logistical and safety purposes, and by entering he Prize Draw the winner agrees to the collection and processing of data derived from the GPS unit for such purposes.
5.10. There are no cash alternatives available and GRIDSERVE reserves the right to replace the Prize with an alternative Prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond GRIDSERVE's control makes it necessary to do so.
5.11. Any costs incurred by the winner which are incidental to the fulfilment of the Prize, including but not limited to toll charges, parking tickets, travel costs to the Collection Point, are the responsibility of the winner.
6. The winner
6.1. The winner will be chosen by a random draw performed by a computer process the day after the Closing Date.
6.2. The winner will be contacted directly using the phone number and email address provided to GRIDSERVE in the Competition Entry Form.
6.3. The winner will be required to provide their UK driver’s licence details to allow GRIDSERVE to carry out driver licence checks with the Driving and Electric Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or via a member of the Association for Driving Licence Verification (ADLV).
7. Claiming the Prize
7.1. The winner of the Prize will have 24 hours from the date of notification that they have won the Prize by GRIDSERVE to claim the Prize. Upon verification that the winner has fulfilled the eligibility criteria, GRIDSERVE will present the Prize at an agreed time as described in clause 5.5.
7.2. GRIDSERVE will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. Should the winner not claim the Prize within the 24 hour time period from when GRIDSERVE attempts to contact the winner for the first time, GRIDSERVE reserves the right to select a new winner in accordance with the process described in clause 6.1.
7.3. GRIDSERVE does not accept any responsibility if the winner is not able to take up the Prize.
7.4. After claiming the Prize and prior to taking possession of the Prize Vehicle the winner must:
7.4.1 agree the times for collection of the Prize Vehicle with GRIDSERVE; and
7.4.2. agree how the RFID card to claim the Free Charging will be delivered/collected; and
7.4.3. sign terms and conditions governing the use of the Prize Vehicle and the Free Charging during the Prize Period (such terms to be substantially similar to those referred to in clause 2.3 of these terms and conditions).
8. Liability
8.1. Insofar as is permitted by law, GRIDSERVE will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of accepting the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of GRIDSERVE, its agents, its distributors or that of their employees. Any statutory rights that you may have will not be affected.
8.2. GRIDSERVE will not be responsible for any fines, parking tickets or other similar costs incurred on the Prize Vehicle by the winner.
8.3. GRIDSERVE accepts no responsibility for the winner’s personal vehicle and/or other personal belongings left at the Collection Point during the Prize Period.
8.4. GRIDSERVE gives no warranty as to the fitness for purpose of the Prize Vehicle and/or the condition of the Prize Vehicle. The condition of the Prize Vehicle will be assessed at the beginning of the Prize Period and when the Prize Vehicle is returned to the Collection Point as set out in clause 5.5. For the avoidance of doubt, the winner will be liable for any damage that occurs to the Prize Vehicle during the Prize Period, as further explained in terms referred to in clause 2.3.
8.5. The winner agrees that they will be the only driver operating the Prize Vehicle and will ensure the safe operation of the Prize Vehicle in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. The winner will also keep the Prize Vehicle in clean and safe condition.
8.6. The winner agrees to indemnify, and keep indemnified, GRIDSERVE for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of the winner’s acts and/or omissions in using the Prize Vehicle.
9. Prize Vehicle Maintenance
9.1. The Prize Vehicle includes maintenance and breakdown coverage for the Prize Period (‘’Maintenance’’). The details of the Maintenance will be provided to the winner upon collection of the Prize Vehicle in accordance with clause 5.5 of these terms and conditions.
9.2. Subject to clause 9.1 above, the winner will at all times remain responsible for ensuring that the Prize Vehicle is properly repaired and maintained having regard to the age and mileage of the Prize Vehicle (including but not limited to the exterior and interior bodywork and to repairs necessitated by such events as fuel contamination, frost damage or driving through flood water). In assessing appropriate Prize Vehicle condition with regard to age and mileage, GRIDSERVE uses BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear guidelines.
9.3. Subject to clause 9.1, the winner will be responsible for maintaining the Prize Vehicle in a roadworthy condition and to carry out routine maintenance and level checks as recommended by the manufacturer.
9.4. Subject to clauses 9.1 and 9.3, the winner will be responsible for having the Prize Vehicle serviced promptly at the correct servicing intervals (as prescribed by the Prize Vehicle’s service indicator and manufacturer’s handbook) and as advised by GRIDSERVE only at a service garage approved by GRIDSERVE and in accordance with the recommendations contained in the manufacturer’s handbook supplied to the winner. The winner must also ensure that the manufacturer’s handbook or electronic servicing record for the Prize Vehicle is stamped or updated by the appropriate servicing agent.
9.5. In the event that the winner fails to comply with clause 9.4 in any way, it agrees to repay GRIDSERVE any loss that it may suffer or incur as a result of such breach. Examples of such loss include but shall not be limited to: (i) any costs incurred by GRIDSERVE in order to reconstitute the service records of the Prize Vehicle, (ii) where the winner’s breach devalues or invalidates any manufacturer’s warranty, sums paid by GRIDSERVE for repair and replacement no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and (iii) the diminution in the resale value of the Prize Vehicle resulting from the winner’s breach (the parties agree that in the absence of manifest error, a written estimate of such diminution signed by an independent accredited assessor appointed by GRIDSERVE will be conclusive proof of the loss suffered by GRIDSERVE).
9.6. The winner will ensure that if and when any repairs or maintenance are required as a result of fair wear and tear or faulty manufacture, such repairs or maintenance are carried out promptly.
9.7. The winner will ensure that, in the event of breakdown, any recovery actions taken are in accordance with the Maintenance and appropriate for the Prize Vehicle type.
9.8. The winner will keep and ensure that the Prize Vehicle is kept free from any lien.
9.9. The winner will not to mortgage, pledge, loan, hire or part with either the Prize Vehicle or any of its accessories.
9.10. The winner will not assign, transfer, sub-let, or deal in any other manner with the Prize Vehicle.
9.11. The winner will not use or suffer or permit to be used the Prize Vehicle for the purpose of any illegal activity or for racing, pacemaking, rallies, reliability trials, speed testing, commercial driving tuition, private hire or use as a taxi.
9.12. The winner will not convert, modify or alter the Prize Vehicle or its accessories without the written consent of GRIDSERVE.
9.13. The winner will not overload the Prize Vehicle at any time (please refer to the manufacturer’s published maximum payload criteria).
9.14. The winner will not disconnect or tamper with the Prize Vehicle’s mileage recorder or speedometer.
9.15. In the event of a defect appearing in the Prize Vehicle’s mileage recorder, the winner will obtain a replacement and notify the GRIDSERVE of the mileage reading at the time of the change.
9.16. The winner will promptly notify GRIDSERVE if the Prize Vehicle is faulty. On request by GRIDSERVE, the winner shall provide GRIDSERVE with all reasonable assistance to GRIDSERVE to make and pursue a claim under the manufacturer’s warranty.
9.17. The winner is responsible for the deletion of any personal data entered (whether directly, for example using a navigation system or in-car entertainment or communications system) into the Prize Vehicle systems.
9.18. GRIDSERVE shall pay the cost of any testing as required by any statute or statutory regulator for the time being in force.
9.19. GRIDSERVE shall approve the dealer and any other suppliers of services used by the winner for the Prize Vehicle.
19.20. It is GRIDSERVE’s current policy not to charge the winner for replacement of tyres. However, in the event of repeated requirements for replacement due to misuse, GRIDSERVE reserves the right to hold the winner liable to pay the cost of replacement tyres and fitting charges.
9.21. GRIDSERVE shall pay the cost of new batteries supplied as required subject to fair wear and tear. In the event of damage necessitating replacement due to misuse, accident or a failure to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, by the winner, the winner shall be liable to pay the cost of such replacement.
9.22. The responsibility of GRIDSERVE for the maintenance of the Prize Vehicle relates solely to the Prize Period.
9.23. During the period of hire, the winner agrees at their own cost to promptly repair any damage sustained to the Prize Vehicle (fair wear and tear excepted) and to promptly replace any lost items or equipment belonging to the Prize Vehicle.
10. Insurance
10.1. The winner agrees to:
10.1.1. To insure and keep insured the Prize Vehicle and accessories for its full replacement value on a fully comprehensive cover basis (including the shattering of, or damage to, glass).
10.1.2. At GRIDSERVE’s request, to submit to GRIDSERVE a copy of any cover letter, a cover note from the winner’s insurance broker or the certificate of insurance relating to the Prize Vehicle.
10.1.3. In the event of any such policy of insurance containing an excess, to pay the amount of such excess in respect of each and every claim made thereunder.
10.1.4. In the event of damage being sustained to the Prize Vehicle or the loss of any items or equipment belonging to the Prize Vehicle, to deliver the Prize Vehicle (only if required to do so by GRIDSERVE and whether or not an insurance claim is being made) to GRIDSERVE’s premises and to ensure the Prize Vehicle is repaired to a condition commensurate with its age and mileage as soon as is practicable.
10.1.5. Not to do or permit or suffer to be done any act or thing which may make void or voidable any policy of insurance covering the Prize Vehicle or render the policy monies irrecoverable or any act or thing which may invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty applicable to the Prize Vehicle.
10.1.6. To pay or cause to be paid to GRIDSERVE forthwith any monies recovered under any policy of insurance in respect of loss or damage to the Prize Vehicle.
11. Accidents, Theft or Damage
11.1. The winner must immediately, or the following day if outside Operational Hours (as defined further in this clause 11.1), inform GRIDSERVE of any accident, theft or damage to the Prize Vehicle by calling 0333 1234 333 between 07:00-21:00 GMT (Operational Hours).
11.2. The winner will be responsible for reporting any accident, theft or damage to the Prize Vehicle to their insurance broker.
11.3. For any Maintenance related incidents, the winner should call 0333 1234 333.
11.4. In all cases, an accident report form will need to be completed and returned to GRIDSERVE within 24 hours of such accident occurring. Such form will be provided to the winner upon collection of the Prize Vehicle.
12. Data Protection and Publicity
12.1. Personal Data submitted by participants as part of the entry requirements will be used to administer the Competition (including for publicity/promotional purposes as set out below), and where consent has been given, to send marketing material by email. Such consent can be withdrawn at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any of the marketing emails sent, or by emailing privacy@gridserve.com.
12.2. The winner of the Competition may be required to participate in publicity and/or promotional activities related to the Competition and by entering the Competition participants agree to such participation including, but not limited to, the use of their name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Reasonable expenses may be paid for such participation where necessarily incurred.
12.3. The winner whose personal data is used for publicity and/or promotional purpose has the right to object to the use of their data for such purposes as set out in our Privacy Notice (available at gridserve.com/legal-area/#gridserve-privacy-notice). GRIDSERVE will endeavour to remove all the personal data used in such publicity/promotions from its website and other media which it can influence, but by its nature publicity/promotional material will be in the public domain and it may therefore not be possible to remove all such references. The objection to the use of personal data shall not affect the legality of the publication of any publicity/promotional material prior to the receipt of a valid objection.
12.4. In any event GRIDSERVE is required by the ASA/CAP Code to make available information that indicates that a valid award took place at the end of the competition. Ordinarily this will be a minimum of the surname and county of the winner of the major prize(s). It is unlikely this will be sufficient for the individual to be identified and so the information is not likely to be personal data as defined in the relevant law. In the event the individual can be identified from the published information the right to object set out in
12.3 above may still apply.

13. General
13.1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, GRIDSERVE may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude a person from participating in the Competition.
13.2. GRIDSERVE reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
13.3. GRIDSERVE does not accept any responsibility or liability if a winner is not able to use the Prize for any reason.
13.4. GRIDSERVE does not accept any responsibility for Competition Entry Forms and queries sent electronically and for the RFID cards sent by post that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
13.5. These terms and conditions are governed by English law. If any participants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts of England and Wales.
